FAQ - Design Consultation

  • If the Design Consultation is virtual, it will be on a Zoom video call. Prior to your consultation, I will send you an email invitation with a link to join the video call at your booked time. You and I will have a face-to-face video call so you can share any materials you have on hand, show me your space virtually (via Zoom screen-share or over video), ask questions and get feedback/advice. This time is your own, so use it how you wish. Consultations are meant to be collaborative and tailored to your needs and taste.

  • Once your consultation has been booked, you will have the opportunity to send me some clear images of your space along with a few sentences describing your project and what expectations you have for the meeting or call, at least 24 hours before the consultation.

For the consultation, the preparation can be as minimal or thorough as you feel is necessary to accomplish your goals. I recommend creating a simple document or presentation that includes photos of the spaces you need help with and a list of the questions you’d like to get answered. You can also include inspiration images, furniture, lighting and materials selections, a list of any links you’d like to share, etc. You can also keep it simple with some prepared questions and take notes throughout. These are (totally optional!) suggestions.

  • These are some of the topics I would be happy and able to advise you on during the consultation (but are not limited to):
. Furniture and home decor selection and placement
    . Floor plan layout
    . Materials selection
. Styling (surfaces, sofas, beds, walls etc.)
    . Paint/wall treatments and drapery/window treatments
    . Cabinetry and built-ins
    . Fixtures, finishes and trims
. Creating a vision / inspiration for your project
    . Remodel ideas

  • It really depends… every project is different, but some examples of what I might not be able to help with include:

. Information on custom vendors, contractors, or other personal contacts
    . Providing super precise measurements
. Personally ordering any items or overseeing any construction
. Tangible design deliverables beyond guidance and support (such as CAD renderings, design presentations or room mockups)

  • You can download Zoom by visiting www.zoom.us/download and downloading 'Zoom for client meetings' and following the prompts. Alternatively, when you click on the invitation email link, you will be prompted to either download or launch the application. We recommend installing it ahead of the interview so you don't lose any time waiting for it to download.
